Nectria racovitzae

Hosts: a generalist seemingly of pleurocarpous mosses but able to spread onto adjacent liverworts like Metzgeria furcata. Homalothecium sericeum, Brachythecium velutinum, Hypnum sp. Found on walls and tree trunks.

First found in GBI in Wales by C. Aron in early 2025. Two subsequent collections were made by me in Feb and March 2025.

Two perithecia on necrotic host.
Necrosis from above collection are distinctly brown rather than pale like those caused by Chromocyphella muscicola (towards the left) and Acrospermum adeanum in this site. Brighstone Forest, Isle of Wight, 26 March 2025.
