Lichenopeltella cf. fimbriata

Hosts: Polytrichum commune

Growing on the abaxial surface / cuticle of dead-looking antheridial splash cups (lacking Lizonia emperigonia). Appears to be very similar to L. fimbriata (J.P. Ellis) P.M. Kirk & Minter based on the tiny 2(?)-septate ascospores that may be lacking appendages. The fimbriate hyphae extending from the margins of the thyriothecium also point towards a relationship with L. fimbriata.
