Hosts: Frullania dilatata (Europe)

Known from the screening of herbarium material, with a single Irish record published in Döbbeler & Davison (2022) [2021].

Hypobryon florentinum Döbbeler. Ascomata* (50-)60-80(-90), blackish, glabrous. Asci claviform, containing 8-32 spores. Interascal filaments absent. Ascospores variable, narrowly ellispsoid to subfusiform / ovoid, (7-)8-14(17) x 2-3(-4), brown, 1-septate. Hyphae light brown, growing with host cell walls, forming appressoria and haustoria.

Ascomata perforate host leaves, including perianths and male bracts – infections usually on older parts of shoot showing signs of decomposition.
